My Everest

Well, blogger friends, it's been a while, but there haven't been many changes lately.  I spend my days crawling around the entire house getting into pretty much everything I can see.  Most things are okay for me to play with, but occasionally mama pulls me away from something, like the cat food bowl or the litter box or the cats themselves.

Mommy hasn't done much to baby proof except for tiny things I might choke on.  She hasn't covered the sockets, but I don't really mess with them.  She hasn't put a gate at the stairs, but she supervises while I play on them.

I spend a lot of the day playing on the bottom two steps, and I've completely mastered going up AND coming back down.  Singing: two steps forward and two steps back.  Mommy has been SO proud of me for maneuvering so skillfully on the stairs.

Well, last night mommy was distracted and daddy was upstairs so I decided to put my skills to the test and climb the entire flight.  I did it!  In a flash!  Mommy and daddy looked VERY surprised.  More surprised than proud, that's strange.

This morning I had breakfast then started playing with my toys while mommy fixed her breakfast.  Our typical morning routine.  Except this morning when I saw the stairs, I remembered that I don't have to just hang out on the bottom two, I can go all the way up!  And up I went.

Here's where mama found me:

A few minutes later I found the dreaded baby gate had been installed.  Sad!
