Sister Love

Mama is really starting to over use a few phrases like, "Audrey, she's having a turn, can you find something different to play with?" or "Audrey, can you share?"  I'm not sure what all of this is about, but I know that I get very stressed when I see one of my toys in someone else's hands.  "That toy never looked so good until someone else started playing with it," I think to myself.  I see them in a new light and I just want to grab them.  But mama always seems to be right there reminding me to wait my turn and share.  Bah!

I was happily shaking two pink maracas today until I saw Haven shaking an orange one and a green one. It looked like she was having lots more fun so I lunged for her maracas.  Mama reminded me that she was having a turn and I should play with the ones I had.  Haven shared the orange one with me anyway... by chucking it at me.  Mama thanked her for sharing and reminded her to be gentle.  Then she chucked the green one at me.  Then she crawled towards me and took all four of them back!  This seems much more productive than mama's idea of "waiting for my turn" so I returned the favor and swiped them all back from Haven.

I think Haven was impressed with the fact that I'm getting big enough to "fight" back and we played like sisters for the rest of the evening.

No memorial day pics... having too much fun to bring out the camera I guess!

The Start of Summer

Even though it's been hot for a while around here, Memorial weekend seems to technically kick off the summer activities.  Pools open and swim suits and sun hats come out.  But don't worry, I didn't let this water table and my fun friends distract me from remembering those that have lost their lives defending our country and protecting my freedom.

Splish splash!

Throw Your Hands Up

I've been very content crawling around with no real desire to walk.  I stand a lot, and cruise around holding onto the furniture, but walking wasn't something that I thought much about.  Until today when I spontaneously threw my hands up in the air while standing at my walker.  Before I knew it, I was just... standing there!  I wasn't wobbling.  I was just balancing.  This quickly became my new favorite game and I even took a few dives towards mama.  Look out, I MAY be walking sooner than we thought :)

Happy Very First Birthday to Me!

My party was last weekend, but I'm officially one TODAY!  I can't believe one year ago today I entered this world a wee 6lbs 6oz.  I've seriously loved every little bit of this past year.  Things get better and more fun with every new trick I learn.  Oh, and before I go on, I finally sprouted my top two teeth!  I weigh somewhere around 18 lbs (dr appt is next week) and I've got to be close to 29" because I'm seriously reaching the height limit on my infant car seat.

Mommy taught me how to sign "more," but it's more like a clap when I do it.  I sign "more" when I want something, anything, and when mama asks me to say something other than more, like "please" or "thank you."  So I basically just clap all the time.

I've really started to love my lovey.  Whenever I'm upstairs I make a b-line for my crib and fish my lovey out from between the crib bars.  Then I put it on my head and crawl around.  Just today I climbed the entire flight of stairs (with mom's supervision), got my lovey out of the crib, and drug it all the way back down the stairs.

I started the weaning process a few days ago and I'm already down to nursing twice a day and drinking milk from my super-cool-big-girl-straw-cup the rest of the time.

For my one-year pictures mommy cut a cupcake shape from my nursery fabrics and had it sewn onto a onesie along with my name and the number one on the back.

Mother's Day Milestone

I was a really big girl today.  I shared my cheerios with my friend, Haven P., at church and then I learned how to drink from a straw!
