Haven Claire will make you: jump! jump!

How high? Real high, 'cause I'm just so fly - Kris Kross

For the past few Sunday's my family has been having dinner at Haven's house.  I love to play at their house.  Today Haven tried to show me how to jump!  I bet this is what slumber parties will look like when we're old enough to have them :]

Fresh Prince remix: bath time scare

Now, this is a story all about how bath time got flipped... turned upside down!  I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became scared of the water in there... :]

So, daddy thought it would be fun to fill up the garden tub for bath time.  In theory, this does sound fun, I'll admit.  The problem is, the water was up to my shoulders so I couldn't lean forward to get my bath toys without taking water to the face.  This made me, naturally, want to stand.  I kept trying to stand and daddy kept trying to get me to sit back down.  This resulted in a slippy move that caused my face to hit the water first and then an over-correction that made the back of my head hit the water next.  At least no one hit the side of the tub, but I was NOT a happy camper.  Gasping, choking, pretty sure I was about to drown.

The next time daddy tried to give me a bath I wouldn't even sit down... even though there was only an inch of water in the tub.  I was scarred.

Mama spent yesterday and today easing me back in to the routine.  Sitting in the tub with no water, sitting in the tub in her lap, sitting in the tub on my own but right in front of her, and then eventually she eased out of the tub and left me in there playing.  I think I'm cured... whew!

Front Porch Sittin' and Blue Crab Pickin'

My mama has been picking steamed blue crabs with her family since she was my age.  It's something that the family would get together and do in Richmond in the summer.  It's not as easy to get crabs in Durham as it was in Richmond but the family still tries to do it once a year, usually for grannie's birthday.  I stuck to nomming on the club crackers, but maybe next year I'll try my hands at some crab meat.

The fam!

Grandpa Lenny, grannie Anne, and uncle Ryan

The beautiful miss Olivia (she's been picking crabs on her own since she was 4!), Joy, dada, and mama.  Everyone has their game face on.

Crabs!  Crabbies go pinch pinch pinch pinch.  But not these crabbies...

Got my sippy cup, my bead necklaces, and my club cracker.  Nom nom nom.

A Nice Nap

You know you've slept well when you wake up looking like this...

14 Months!

I'm practically running at this point and don't ever crawl anymore.  I love wearing my shoes and always hold my right foot up for mama to put them on.  Even if my right foot has a shoe and my left foot doesn't, I still hold my right foot up high for her.

I throw my arm up in the air to imitate what an elephant says and I sniff sniff sniff when someone mentions flowers.

I still blow kisses for goodbye and goodnight and sometimes just randomly.

I'm still not eating much of anything but we're managing that just fine.  I have milk and maybe a few cheerios or crackers for breakfast, then mama gives me what she knows I'll eat for lunch (chicken, cheese, and strawberries or grapes) and at dinner I'm offered whatever the parents are eating, take it or leave it.  I usually leave it.

We have learned the hard way that a big glass of milk on my empty morning belly combined with a ride in the car does not mix.  Unfortunately I gave it all back three times before we were convinced of the trend.  We're all thankful that I don't get sick EVERY time I drink milk or EVERY time I'm in the car and just like the no eating thing, we've learned to manage this.  The first time it happened we were all a mess.  Figuratively and literally.  By the third time though, mom and dad were like a highly-trained first-response team!  Now the plan is no milk in the morning if we have somewhere to be... instead, I get my milk once we've gotten to our destination, and so far, this seems to do the trick.

I love to dance.  I sway to calm music and stomp my foot cotton-eyed-joe style to faster tempos.

I spent the day playing at my new favorite place... the mall!  Make-up, jewelry, escalators, hall ways, and a play area with lots of new friends.

Illinois

My first nap of the day didn't happen until we arrived in Illinois.  I passed OUT.
First stop, great grandma T's where I pushed daddy in the wheel chair and sat in the TV cabinet.

Look at grandma and me being silly girls!

Two of a kind <3

Back at great grandma T's I get to see fishies...

And birds...

And show off for grandma T :]

Mama got a little bit of cuddle time in.  Hard to get her hands on me when there are so many grandparents around!

A dip in the pool... because who knew it would be 100+ degrees in Illinois!

Breakfast with grandpa, armed with my crayons.

Coloring with grandma.

Look!  There's daddy!

And a fun light up above!

Playground with graaaandpa

Monkeying around back at the house.

Sharing with great grandpa John

Daddy tickling my feet

Cleaning up :)

I don't know what my face means, but it's pretty funny!

I wore that grandpa OUT.

The plane ride back home... socializing with everyone around.

Glad to be home... and still a little wound up from the trip :]

Ballard Wedding Shower

This Sunday I celebrated the upcoming wedding of one of mom's old co-workers.

This is Jordan B, mom's old co-worker, and his beautiful fiancee Tiffany.

MY Tiffany was the host of the shower.  I love to give her kisses and laugh with her.

Eva chased me around the ottoman.  We did our best to avoid the areas that weren't so baby friendly.

My handsome daddy and me!

The shower game involved lips and mustaches on a stick.  Everything is better on a stick!
